Free

Free is made up of a collection of songs where some date back to material I created in the 1990's.​

The goal of the album was to clear the decks of songs so that I could move on and create new material.

​

The title track celebrates the life of my grandmother who formed a big part of my younger life. She suffered and never lost her faith and I always felt that the end of her life meant that she was free to start again.   The song also references the tough relationship I had with my father. 

 

Dad was tough to live with, hard working, an artist and he loved with passion and loved my mother, sister and I. We never managed to reconcile before he died but in some small way, Free is an attempt at moving on.

I learned a lot making this album about the process of recording, performance and mastering. This was the platform of work that helped me take the next leap in the quality of music I make.​
